Making Connections

To get to know people in our church, coming to church on Sunday and visiting during coffee hour is a great start. However, if you are interested in getting to know others on a deeper level, there are plenty of opportunities! We welcome and encourage you to attend all events that interest you. To find the specific date and time of an event, consult the calendar.

Ongoing Events

Chalice Circle Group: Meeting twice a month at church, this group is open to all who wish to participate in deep discussions on a variety of topics in a small group.

Men's Group: This informal gathering of men occurs monthly, sometimes at the church for breakfast or off-site for dinner at a restaurant. While generally without any agenda except for eating and drinking, it is the place where meaningful discussion occurs and occasional organization of group efforts, such as the offering of handyman services to the Action Auction.

Saturday Suppers: Potluck dinners are held on the third Saturday of each month. Each group attends a supper hosted at a participant's home. These suppers offer a way for groups of six to ten congregants to get to know each other in a relaxed setting, and are especially useful for those who want to make connections, but might feel overwhelmed in the company of the whole congregation.

Soup Sundays: A luncheon is provided for churchgoers one Sunday per month following the service. Everyone is welcome to stay for fellowship and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by UUCC member Susan Lange. Donations of $7 per adult are appreciated, but not required.

Women's Group: Meeting twice a month at church (once for a book club and once for a social gathering), this group promotes friendship and boosts spirituality for women. The meetings typically involve eating, laughing, and sharing with UUCC women.

Annual Events

Action Auction: This is our largest fundraiser of the year, but it's also loads of fun! The auction includes dinner, raffles and both silent and regular auctions. The evening highlights include wonderful food, excellent desserts and a chance to bid on goods and services. Children have their own activities and a child-friendly auction for them to bid on appropriate items. This is a popular Fall event, as participants have a chance to mingle and get a jump on holiday shopping!

Annual Camping Trip: A huge portion of our congregation joins in on the annual camping trip. This wonderful time in the mountains gives us the opportunity to get to know each other better in a natural, informal setting. The camping trip generally takes place every August.

Garage Sale: Spring is generally the time for the UUCC garage sale. This is a wonderful opportunity to clean out your house and donate items to the sale. It's also a great time to roll up the sleeves and work side-by-side with your fellow parishioners.

Pool Parties: Every summer, a congregant or two opens their home for a cool, refreshing pool party. This gives us an opportunity to enjoy each other's company in a relaxed setting, in addition to having a break from our summer heat.
